Alpha Phi Sigma Meeting, February 20th, 2025.

When I discovered my passion for criminology and the law in college, I knew I had to immerse myself in it. In 2023, I was invited to join Alpha Phi Sigma, the Criminal Justice Honors Society. At the time I joined, I was one of eight members. That Spring, I was elected the Secretary of the chapter, and with my fellow officers, we grew the society to ninety-five members, more than quadruple our original roster. We threw a criminology-related career fair, invited guest speakers of both professors and working professionals in the field, including local attorneys and police officers, and brought the club back to life. As Secretary, I honed my event management, communication, and organizational skills. Leadership, hard work, and passion paid off to transform a group of individuals into a community. This experience further cemented my commitment to criminal justice, leadership, and community.

Terracotta, certificate of excellence
Academic Banquet 2025, Alpha Omicron Pi, Xi Omicron Chapter

Academic excellence requires unwavering commitment and discipline – qualities I demonstrated throughout my undergraduate career. At the University of Arkansas, I threw myself into my studies, and maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA all eight semesters in a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology, a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, and a minor in Legal Studies. Because of this, I was awarded First-Ranked Senior Scholar Award by the University of Arkansas and the Academic Excellence Award by Alpha Omicron Pi, Xi Omicron chapter. I was also listed in the Top 10% of both Criminology and Sociology majors by the Registrar’s Office at the University of Arkansas. As a young person dedicated to pursuing my goals, education is a vital way to invest in myself, and when I entered college, I knew I had to take advantage of every opportunity. These essential time management skills, organizational skills, work ethic, critical thinking, and ambition are well-prepared to be put to the test for the next page of my academic journey. Now, I look forward to keep those same priorities as I pursue my highest potential in law school and beyond.

Melting the Stigma, 2024
Melting the Stigma, 2024

Creating meaningful community connections through advocacy work has been central to my experience. As a person who cherishes serving others, I frequently volunteer with organizations around my community to uplift others. Here, I am celebrating the strength of my sorority sisters at one of our annual philanthropy events, Melting the Stigma, which is dedicated to “melting the stigma” of mental health. Hearing their personal stories, educating the public on our local resources, and even befriending a stranger over ice cream – all of these activities from this event reach back into our community and spread awareness on this cause. I have been an active volunteer for Melting the Stigma for all four years of my college experience, helping set/clean up, tabling, advertising it to the public, and encouraging my fellow sisters to get involved. As I move forward with my life, I take these life lessons and personal passions into my future work, emphasizing the need for togetherness, as we all battle today’s ever-changing world.
