Artifact 1: Balance Scale
If you picture a balance scale, you will see that it has two sides to it. Depending on the size of the object on each scale, one plate side may lift higher than the other. A figure that represents how I am motivated is a balance scale. I feel as though this represents how I am motivated because just like the scale, there are days where my motivation fluctuates. Some days I am motivated more than others depending on various factors such as my feelings. Or, from another aspect, there are instances where I am motivated to do one activity more than I am motivated to do another. So, I can almost picture two tasks that I need to complete on each plate of a balance scale and whichever task I feel most motivated to complete tilts the scale up, thus leading me to finishing it first. This can sometimes be difficult, however, when the task that needs to be done is not the one I am motivated to do. I am continually attempting to learn how to create a balance between fulfilling my life goals by not only doing the things I enjoy but also those that are required that I may not enjoy as much.
Artifact 2: Rubik’s Cube
The Rubik’s cube is a complex puzzle that goes through many twists and turns in order for it to be solved. My passion can be represented with a Rubik’s cube. Like the Rubik’s cube, my passions in life require many steps to fulfill, and despite the many twists and turns that life throws at me, I continue to be passionate about meeting my life goals. Every time I overcome a barrier in life is like when a side of a Rubik’s cube is solved in the same color. I could also say that my passions are represented by the colors of a Rubik’s cube, so vibrant and clear in sight. I can use my experience as a civil engineering major as an example. My journey to obtain my degree has come with struggles like the twist and turns it takes to solve a Rubik’s cube, but I have continued to focus on the passion I have to create a successful future for myself to complete this puzzle called life. I continue to learn more about myself and different ways to build the life I want, just as one may develop different methods to solve a Rubik’s cube.
Artifact 3: My Mother
My strength is a reflection of my mothers strength. My mother is a strong woman and I have been blessed to see first hand how she navigates life with unwavering strength. She has gone through so much in life but continues to strive for better and continues to complete her goals. I am proud of my mother and hope to be half the woman she is. I, myself, strive to grow in my strength and be able to move through life with confidence and poise like her. She teaches me that it is not only about the struggles you go through, but also how you overcame them.
