Leadership

With an initiative to establish the EMPOWER Registered Student Organization (RSO), I was subsequently elected as the President. This endeavor involved constructing the organization’s constitution, officially registering it as a student organization, and orchestrating events designed to supplement the University of Arkansas’s EMPOWER Program. The EMPOWER Program is a commendable organization that provides a college experience for students with cognitive disabilities, encompassing academics, independent living, employment, and health skills with the goal of nurturing self-sufficient young adults. As the President, I pushed beyond my comfort zone, confidently delivering speeches in front of audiences of up to 150 individuals, leading events, and mentorship to the EMPOWER students, thereby exemplifying my commitment to leadership and advocacy for meaningful causes.
Career and Self-Motivation

In addition to my academic career, I ventured into the field of research as a research assistant in Dr. Leong’s Fullstack Psychoneurological lab. Here, I engaged in the intricate work of framing and presenting fMRI data to unravel the correlation between genetic and environmental factors in neurological development. This experience not only immersed me in the research domain but also deepened my familiarity with neurological anatomy and radiographic scans, such as fMRI. Beyond research, my dedication to clinical exposure led me to assume the role of a Patient Care Technician at my local hospital. This role helped crystalize my pursuit of a career in medicine. My vision as a future physician extends beyond clinical expertise; and encompasses a commitment to patients and their families throughout their treatment journey. Reinforced my commitment during my job as a PCT, I highlighted my dedication to providing steadfast support regardless of my title, as I believe in being a physician who is not only motivated to be on the patient’s side but also committed to their well-being.
