I’m Hunter, a driven and compassionate musician who has been studying, teaching, and performing the guitar for most of my life. Currently, I’m a senior at the University of Arkansas with a major in Guitar Performance. Post-graduation, I strive to teach and inspire others through lessons, performances, compositions, and to continuously ignite my passion for music.
That lifelong goal for learning of the guitar began in the 5th grade at Arkansas Arts Academy, where I first began taking guitar classes. From the Arkansas Arts Academy to now at the University of Arkansas I have dedicated a decade to learning and experiencing the musician sphere. As of January 2023, I have developed relevant communication skills for a myriad of people in the music industry. From teachers, students, bandmates, producers, artists, and venue owners my communication skills have led me to scheduling and performing shows, acquiring composing opportunities and playing the guitar in recording sessions around Northwest Arkansas.
One of my passions in music is the desire to learn as diverse a range of styles, genres, and cultures in music as I can. I have studied jazz guitarists like Pat Metheny and Mick Goodrick, and country guitarists like Chet Atkins and Tommy Emmanuel, so my range in guitar styles classifies me as a multi-genre rhythm guitarist.
The guitar professors I have had throughout my music journey have taught me leadership skills for many different kinds of ensembles, writers and composer’s groups, and conducting music lessons with yearning students. During my time at the University of Arkansas, professors have taught me technology skills related to composing music, the sonic capabilities of the guitar, and more general technology skills related to concert logistics, scheduling tours and communication with industry professionals.
Impacting aspiring guitarists is one of my career goals. I aim to teach my students what it means to be a fluent and professional guitarist in the modern world. Instilling respect for music of the past, building good techniques, and fostering communication skills is what I believe should be the heart of an aspiring guitarist.
