Sports Anchoring: Growing on Air
This video captures my second time anchoring the sports block for UATV News, and it marks a turning point in my growth as a journalist. By this point, I had learned the basics, but this experience allowed me to focus on delivery, pacing, storytelling, graphics, and connecting with the audience rather than just getting through the script. The studio, cameras, and countdown that once felt intimidating started to feel familiar, and I began to see anchoring not just as a college opportunity, but as real preparation for my future career. UATV has been an incredible experience, offering hands-on opportunities to practice anchoring, write scripts, create graphics, and adapt quickly to the demands of a live broadcast.
Through this experience, I became more confident on air and more intentional in every second of a broadcast—the tone of my voice, energy, transitions, and even how I recover when something doesn’t go perfectly. It reinforced the importance of preparation, teamwork, and composure under pressure. More than anything, it reaffirmed that broadcast journalism is where I belong and motivated me to continue improving my delivery, writing, and graphics skills every time I step in front of the camera, preparing me for future internships and professional opportunities.
Recognition that Inspires: Receiving the ABA Scholarship

Receiving the Arkansas Broadcasters Association Scholarship was a meaningful honor that recognized my hard work in broadcast journalism. Being acknowledged by industry professionals encouraged me to keep improving my skills, take on new opportunities, and stay committed to building a strong future in media.
Leading, Learning, and Growing Abroad: My Experience in Greece
Studying abroad in Greece this past summer was an invaluable experience that strengthened my leadership, adaptability, and commitment to service—skills that directly apply to a career in journalism. In Athens and Mykonos, I navigated unfamiliar environments, explored new cultures, and participated in leadership courses that challenged me to take initiative and collaborate effectively. From trying local foods to bungee jumping, each experience pushed me to step outside my comfort zone and approach challenges with confidence.
One of the most meaningful parts of the trip was our community service with Emfasis, a nonprofit supporting the homeless population in Greece. My classmates and I assembled hundreds of care bags for those in need and for disaster relief, which reinforced the importance of empathy, attention to detail, and making an impact through action. These experiences taught me how to adapt quickly, communicate across cultural boundaries, and lead with purpose.
