About Joshua

Welcome to my portfolio! My name is Joshua McCloud and I hope this portfolio gives you an insight into who I am.

I’m constantly being pulled back to remembering when everything seemed simple. The older I’ve gotten, this understanding of life and the world were flipped upside down. The introduction of puzzles and chess brought my mind to new routes of critical thinking. Since then, I have been interested in how ideas, concepts, and issues work in tandem while also being unreliable to predict. I’m Joshua McCloud and I like to use these ideas and concepts to help people while mitigating risks or losses. To use my skills to help anyone is something that has become important to me because of the life lessons I’ve learned.

In Third grade I started seeing how I like to think outside the box in a different way. I had been playing chess for only a little bit but loved understanding the game and the ways you must think ahead. I never cared about winning or being the best, just understanding the game was enough. I didn’t realize until later that I would apply these concepts to my overall life and apply to the work I’ve done. I ended up winning first place which came as a surprise seeing as again, I wasn’t trying to win. This story to me is an example of how I like to learn while trying to accomplish my goals. Also, while not through being the best but out of what comes from my goals.

I am satisfied with my accomplishments if they inspire others, help create a new understanding or perspective, and assist a company mitigate losses and issues. My sophomore year of college presented itself with an opportunity to write a proposal to my university about issues students faced on campus. I had to work with two others to create a solution to housing problems for incoming students and returning students. This project had helped me understand more of how I like to collaborate to create a solution that can’t be solved by one person alone. After completing the project, I’ve realized I want to help companies identify problems that may need to be fixed. To have all these experiences to help better understand what I bring to the table in the workforce has prompted me to explore new opportunities.
